Acupressure
Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points, which stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities.  Acupressure was developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago.  It is effective in the relief of stress-related ailments, and is ideal for self-treatment and preventative health care for boosting the immune system.  Acupressure releases tension, increases circulation, reduces pain, and develops spirituality and vibrant health.

Acupuncture and Acupressure use the same pressure points and meridians, but Acupuncture employs needles, while Acupressure uses gentle to firm finger pressure.  When these acupressure points are stimulated, they release muscular tension, promote circulation of blood, and enhance the body's life force energy to aid healing.

Acupressure can even be used to tonify the face and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.  It can even be used to release emotional tension.  One form of Acupressure, which some people call Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping, utilizes certain Acupressure points in conjunction with affirmations.

Safety
Acupressure is a safe, non-invasive, natural technique that is easy to learn and perform on yourself or on family and friends.

If You Are Thinking About Using Acupressure
  • Do not use Acupressure as a replacement for conventional care or to postpone seeing a doctor about a medical problem.
  • Find out about the practitioner's background, including training and experience treating clients.
  • Tell your health care providers about any complementary and alternative practices you use. Give them a full picture of what you do to manage your health. This will help ensure coordinated and safe care.
